Our Pass Photo of the Week—Amy from Stockport!

Well, guys, we finally made it to this day. A number of major lockdown restrictions are being lifted and we have permission to get back to doing some of our favourite things. Be it visiting the pub, treating yourself to a haircut, or indeed booking driving lessons, we hope you enjoy it in a safe, socially-distanced way. And if anyone from Leicester is reading this, we wish your city a speedy recovery and can’t wait for you to join us in enjoying some of these freedoms!

For this week’s top pass photo we’re highlighting the driving journey of perhaps one of the final learners to secure an emergency driving test. This admirable key worker had to overcome more than one hurdle on her road to earning a licence!

This week’s top pass photo of the week goes to… Amy from Stockport!

Care worker Amy has a very busy schedule because of her job. When she signed up for PassMeFast’s 20 hour automatic course, therefore, she requested to take lessons semi-intensively. This was all fine and dandy with us, but it did mean that her test date ended up being schedule for mid-March. Would she be able to complete her test before lockdown?! Sadly, no. The DVSA only went and cancelled her test due to an examiner being unavailable!

As frustrating as this was, Amy maintained a positive and determined attitude. She carried on taking lessons with her instructor Phil and waited to hear if we could secure her an emergency test date. Then, disaster number 2 struck! It turned out that emergency tests were not available at her local test centre. Eek!

Some learners may have thrown in the towel at this point, but not Amy. PassMeFast explained that we could request a test at nearby Hyde test centre, and Phil got to work helping Amy familiarise herself with the new location. The rest, as you can see, is history! We secured the test, Phil provided her with the necessary skills and Amy managed to pass her test first time with just 1 minor! What an achievement! Congratulations, Amy—and a big thank you for everything you do as a key worker.

Driving lessons now available for all!

As of July 4th, the government has confirmed that driving lessons can go ahead for all learners. That means it won’t just be key workers hitting the road to earn a licence! Find out what we know so far about this news by checking out our post on the return of driving lessons.
