My Learner Driver Experience: Jordan

PassMeFast staff member Jordan in learner driver experience frame

Welcome to PassMeFast’s brand new series, My Learner Driver Experience! Every month, we interview a member of the PassMeFast team about their journey to earning a licence. After all, we can give you all of the driving tips and tricks we know (and we will!), but sometimes, you just want to hear advice straight from the horse’s mouth. We figured we have an office full of such horses (AKA, qualified drivers) so let’s tap into this useful source of first-hand driving experience!

In the hot seat this week, we have PassMeFast Sales Executive, Jordan. He’s worked for the business since May 2019 and, true to his role, is a very friendly and outgoing presence in the office! So, let’s get the lowdown on how Jordan went from learner to qualified driver…

The stats

How old were you when you started learning to drive? 17

How old were you when you passed your driving test? 18

How many attempts did it take for you to pass the theory test? 2

The learning process

What transmission did you learn to drive in? Manual.

How many lessons did you need? Over 20.

Why did you want to learn to drive? Freedom, social reasons and I think it’s a natural goal at that age.

What was your biggest challenge? The manoeuvres—specifically parallel parking or reversing around a corner!

What did you enjoy most during your lessons? Exploring areas I’d known all my life and feeling a new sense of control over travelling around them.

What was your instructor like? Very friendly and helpful! He never raised his voice and was a real ‘dad’ figure.

The practical test

Where did you take your test? Blackpool.

How many attempts did it take for you to pass the driving test? 2

How many minors did you get? 4

Reflecting on the experience

Overall, how did you find the experience of learning to drive? Enjoyable! Although it was a little stressful and I felt the pressure at times, especially after failing first time.

Do you still drive now? Yes.

And, finally, Jordan’s top tip for learner drivers:

“Don’t panic, listen to the instructor and don’t get complacent or arrogant!”

And there you have it! A useful glimpse into the kinds of highs, lows and whaddayaknows you can expect when embarking upon your own driving journey. If you enjoyed these handy nuggets of real-life wisdom, be sure to come back next month when we’ll be delving into the learner driver experience of another member of the PassMeFast team!

Until then, keep hitting up the PassMeFast blog for all the latest driving news, tips and pics!
