As one of the leading driving schools in the UK, it’s safe to say that PassMeFast wouldn’t be anywhere without its fleet of dedicated, hardworking driving instructors. With our rapid expansion into new counties each month—like our recent launch in Essex—we depend on our ADIs to help learners ditch the L plates and get their hands on that full driving licence. As a way of acknowledging our instructors, we started our Meet an ADI series. In this month’s edition, we’re looking at East Yorkshire-based instructor Wendy.
Wendy has been a member of PassMeFast since 2018 and has a few things to share with our readers. Give her a warm welcome and keep reading to get to know her a bit better!
What age were you when you passed your test? 18
How many times did it take you to pass? 2
How long have you been an ADI? 4 years.
What was your first car? Ford Escort.
What car do you drive now? Renault Clio.
What’s your dream car? Mercedes.
What motivated you to become an instructor? To give everyone a skill for life and the great freedom it offers.
Have you taught any family members to drive? Yes!
What’s your proudest moment as an instructor? Mum and son passing in same week. Both first time.
What’s the most enjoyable thing about being a driving instructor? Taking the most terrified, nervous learner and seeing their face when they get that pass certificate. Great job satisfaction.
And the most frustrating thing about being a driving instructor? Waiting time for tests—unless, of course, you use PassMeFast! ?
What’s your biggest pet peeve about other drivers? Impatience with my learners. Didn’t they all have to learn?
What’s your favourite pass story? The lady who passed 2 days before her baby arrived! Examiner didn’t dare ask her to do an emergency stop even though I told him there were gloves and towels ready in the boot!
What’s the craziest pass celebration you’ve seen? Jumped out of the car and did star jumps all around the car park and then kissed the examiner. Wish I’d had my camera ready for the shock in his face.
What’s the most common thing people fail on? Failing to observe properly at junctions.
What’s the best piece of advice you’d give to new drivers? Lock your phone in the boot of your car.
When did you join PassMeFast and why? I joined in 2018 to help people who need to pass quickly in order to secure a job opportunity or meet some kind of deadline.
What do you do to relax? Walk my dog (to the pub) but not on a school night!
Do you have any hobbies or interests? Holidaying with my dog (and hubby)!
