Greetings, PassMeFast readers! Are you ready to get to know more about another hardworking member of PassMeFast’s fleet of driving instructors? We’re back once more with another instalment in our Meet an ADI series!
This month, we’ll be chatting to instructor Tommy, who joined the PassMeFast team all the way back in 2018. Based around Greater Manchester, with 10 years of teaching experience under his belt, Tommy has plenty to share with us!
What age were you when you passed your test? 17
How many times did it take you to pass? One!
How long have you been an ADI? 10 years.
What was your first car? An Escort MK1—I still miss it!
What car do you drive now? Renault Clio.
What transmission is your car? Manual.
What’s your dream car? Tesla—no more fuel!
What motivated you to become an instructor? I love driving and helping people to achieve their goals.
Have you taught any family members to drive? Yep—all three passed first time!
What’s your proudest moment as an instructor? Passing a 69 year old lady who needed to drive as her husband had a stroke. She passed first time!
What’s the most enjoyable thing about being a driving instructor? Seeing people that have passed and seeing the difference it’s made.
And the most frustrating thing about being a driving instructor? Traffic jams!
What’s your biggest pet peeve about other drivers? Impatience!
What’s your favourite pass story? The lady that needed to pass to care for her husband—she was proper old school!
What’s the craziest pass celebration you’ve seen? A guy kissed and slapped the examiner’s bald head!
What’s the most common thing people fail on? Nerves. Just relax and be yourself!
What’s the best piece of advice you’d give to new drivers? Use P plates until you feel confident enough and no music!
When did you join PassMeFast and why? In 2018—I wanted to try something new and challenging.
What do you do to relax? Spend time with my family.
Do you have any hobbies or interests? Golf, watching football, eating out and socialising.
