So far in our Meet an ADI series, we’ve profiled driving instructors from Greater Manchester, Lancashire and West Yorkshire. But there are still plenty of pieces of the PassMeFast puzzle that haven’t yet slotted in place. That’s why, in this edition, we’re heading to South Yorkshire to meet our local ADI Peter!
Peter’s been part of the PassMeFast team since the beginning of 2018, but has already been behind his fair share of pass stories. Let’s hear from the man himself!
How old were you when you passed your driving test? 17
How many attempts did it take you to pass? I passed first time!
When did you become an ADI? In 2011.
What car do you drive? A Mini Cooper D.
Automatic or manual? Manual.
What was your first car? A Ford Fiesta Mk1.
And what’s your dream car? An Aston Martin.
What motivated you to become a driving instructor? I wanted to help make a difference to people’s lives.
What’s your proudest moment as an instructor? The very first fault-free test I presided over.
What’s the most enjoyable thing about being a driving instructor? Seeing the joy on people’s faces when they pass.
What’s the most frustrating thing about being a driving instructor? Last-minute cancellations… or pupils simply not turning up for lessons!
What’s your biggest pet peeve about other drivers? Impatience.
What’s your favourite pass story? My friend’s son (and my godson) passed his test first time after having lessons with me.
What’s the craziest pass celebration you’ve ever seen? I had a candidate who was required to take an extended practical test—which he passed. When he was told the result, he asked the examiner out! (She refused!)
What’s the most common thing people fail on? Observation.
What’s the best piece of advice you could give to a new driver? Never underestimate what’s required of you.
Why did you decide to join PassMeFast? I liked the business model and the concept—and also the opportunity to get frequent bookings.
What are your hobbies and interests? I’m a season ticket holder at Leicester City Football Club.
And, finally, what do you do to relax? Read, garden, walk and go to the gym.
