If you’re a frequent reader of the PassMeFast blog, you might have spotted our Meet an ADI series. Each month, we shine the spotlight on one of our hardworking driving instructors and give you the chance to look behind the scenes at the people who make PassMeFast one of the leading driving schools in the UK. Our instructors cover a variety of areas across the UK, this month, however, we’re heading over to South Yorkshire to meet local ADI Kevin.
Kevin has been a part of the PassMeFast team since November 2017, and with 28 years of teaching experience under his belt, he’s got plenty to share with us. Read on to get to know him better!
What age were you when you passed your test? 17
How many times did it take you to pass? First time.
How long have you been an ADI? 28 years.
What was your first car? Ford Cortina.
What car do you drive now? Peugeot 308 Active.
What’s your dream car? Aston Martin.
What motivated you to become an instructor? I needed a career change.
Have you taught any family members to drive? Yes: all my kids.
What’s your proudest moment as an instructor? Helping a lady who was low on confidence to pass her test first time!
What’s the most enjoyable thing about being a driving instructor? The look on someone’s ace when they get that pass report.
And the most frustrating thing about being a driving instructor? Nothing, I’m lucky. I love the challenge my job brings!
What’s your biggest pet peeve about other drivers? Ignorance.
What’s your favourite pass story? A lady came to me after having failed 3 tests, got her sorted in just 5 hours. She passed with zero minors!
What’s the craziest pass celebration you’ve seen? I watched a lad grab his examiner (female) and dance around the car park with her!
What’s the most common thing people fail on? Lack of coordination, I find.
What’s the best piece of advice you’d give to new drivers? Rome wasn’t built in a day.
When did you join PassMeFast and why? I joined in 2017 because I was asked to cover a course, stayed on and not looked back since.
What do you do to relax? With my grandkids I don’t get the chance to relax!
Do you have any hobbies or interests? Watching my grandson play football. And, unfortunately, watching Sheffield Wednesday.
